Summary[]

Returning to the Palace, Wave reports to Esdeath that Akame got away from him. He apologizes but Esdeath reminds him that he is in charge of Palace security, and that what goes on in town is outside his juristiction, so the one at fault was Nouken and his troops for being, as she puts it, easy prey for Akame. Wave still says he is disappointed in himself for what happened though, but Esdeath assures him there is no need to, and since Budo is dead, there is no one in her eyes capable of crossing her besides Akame and Tatsumi. She eagerly expresses delight at letting loose for the decisive battle and feels she is about to burst with it, but Wave snaps her out of her thoughts as he asks her to train him so he can become stronger. Esdeath bluntly refuses, to Wave's surprise, and reminds Wave of when she already told him she considered his strength at its apex. Wave insists he can break though the limits she thinks he has hit as long as they try, which finally convinces Esdeath to help him out. She does remind him, however, that the final battle is coming soon, so there isn't enough time for her to train him, unless they use extreme methods. Wave asks if the methods involve drugs and Esdeath answers that they won't be enough. She reminds him that a person can only wield one Teigu, something she knows in depth. She tells Wave that if someone wielded two Teigu, it would to complete destruction for the user. She admits Wave possesses the physical strength and force of will to wield two Teigu successfully, but it is also important he find one that is compatible with him. She finishes by saying that it is up to him if he wants to put his body through such an ordeal, but whatever the option, she promises that before the battle ends, she will train him herself, earning her his gratitude. Esdeath then invites Wave to share in a feast sent to her by the Emperor as recognition of their services as she couldn't eat it all by herself, and Wave happily agrees. Before he starts though, Esdeath asks Wave to bring some sweet stuff to Kurome following her mission. When he inquires, she informs him that she went as a member of the Dark Squad and their mission was to assassinate key members of the Revolutionary Army. This shocks Wave as Esdeath admits she even objected to her joining them, but Kurome's insistance caused her to back down.

In the Captial streets, Kurome reunites with the Dark Squad, who give her a warm welcome. She notices there are less members than before, and they revealed that Mile, Cena, and Rico were 'disposed' of because they were deemed weak. They also added that Joe went for inspection and they were confindent he didn't pass it. Kurome shudders at the thought of being disposed of as the other members explain that in addition to the ones who died in the line of duty, they are all that is left. They ask Kurome how she is physically and she says yes with a smile on her face. All the members cheer for the answer and promise to give all they have in case of the war, and Kurome agrees, adding that Esdeath has something up her sleeve which further excites the Dark Squad. Kurome asks if Kylie is leading them now, and surely enough, Kylie appears behind Kurome and confirms it. Kurome notices that Kylie looks much older than he should be, no doubt a result of the drugs he has taken. Kylie says it is nothing compared to the effect they have on his mood, since he is still actually a teenager, but as long as he can fight he doesn't have to worry about his appearance. Kylie changes subjects and reminds his subordinates that their mission is assassinating key figures of the Revolutionary Army's encampment despite having trouble procuring intel, so this will be a difficult mission for them all. He insists though that they should continue on with the mission and tear their enemy apart, resulting is thunderous cheers from his subordinates. One mentions that they may encounter Akame, and Kylie orders that if that be the case, she is to be killed on site. Kylie admits that he never cared for the Elite Seven since most of them are dead now, so any survivors are not fit to serve the Imperial Army and therefore should be killed, though he does warn them to watch out for Murasame. Kylie orders his subordinates to take doping drugs and to divide their forces between the east and west before infiltrating, so if half fail, the other half can break through. As they march to their destination, Kylie offers Kurome to stay the night with them after the mission since she is still well liked by all of them, and Kurome agrees.

The Dark Squad, while on route to the encampment, are intercepted by Akame, as Kylie realizes she predicted their route. Akame notices that Kurome isn't part of the group she encountered and tells Kylie that if they tried to ambush him with a large number they would have been spotted, which is why she is out by herself. Akame then realizes who she is talking to and Kylie confirms her suspicions, citing that it is because she abandoned them. Akame brushes this off as a guilt trip and reiterates she did what needed to be done. Akame informs Kylie that reinforcements are coming so he should pull back before they find them, but Kylie refuses, determined to push through. As the two continue to glare at each other, Akame thinks back to her time with the Empire and her previous master Gozuki. Gozuki told Akame that if she wanted to return to her sister, she needs to be very callous and ruthless during her missions. In order to do so, she will need chant a specific word whether out loud or in her heart to 'switch' on her ruthlessness no matter what it is. In the present, Akame yells that if they get too close to her, she will 'bury' them; her word. Kylie notices no hesitation in her voice and takes a super strength pill to be able to contend with her. After it goes into effect, he orders his subordinates to erase her. The Dark Squad charge at her yelling that she is a traitor but Akame swiftly cuts them all apart, all the while yelling 'bury'. After killing all the soldiers, Kylie jumps into the air and charges at her as the two engage in a fierce battle. At the top of her lungs, Akame yells 'bury' as she and Kylie land their final attacks on each other. Unfortunately for Kylie, Akame successfully cut him with Murasame. As he falls to his knees and the curse takes effect, Kylie admits that he never liked the Elite Seven, but he always considered them beasts. He affectionately calls Akame 'Akame-cchi' as he admits he lost before falling to the ground dead, as Akame thinks back to how he looked in the past.

On Kurome's side, Kurome and Leone get into a rematch, with Leone intending to pay her back for cutting off her left arm last time. Kurome is then surprised by Akame's appearance and Leone realizes she finished up her end very quickly, and reinforcements will arrive soon. Kurome is left horrified by the revelation that they knew they would have split up their forces, and if they don't pull back it will be a massacre. Kurome activates Yatsufusa and summons forth various corpse puppets to use as a shield. She commands Run to help her flee as she orders her men to retreat. As she flies away, Akame jumps close to Kurome and tells her to meet her tomorrow night outside the Imperial Captial for a one-on-one match at 'that' place. Kurome accepts as she successfully flies away.

After the battle, the Revolutionary Army reinforcements arrive to help out the injured and take away Kylie's body, as the two of them watched with Leone taking Akame's hand in comfort.
