Akame ga Kill! is a Japanese anime television series based on the manga of the same name. The story follows halfway through the manga while delivering an anime-only ending. The series is directed by Tomoki Kobayashi and written by Makoto Uezu. Takahiro is also supervising the scenario. Taku Iwasaki composes the series' music.
The series premiered on Tokyo MX, MBS and BS11 television stations on July 6, 2014 and ended on December 14, 2014. The anime has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks for an English release, while Crunchyroll is streaming the series on their official website. The episodes have been collected on eight DVD and Blu-ray volumes released between October 15, 2014 and May 20, 2015. Besides Crunchyroll, the anime can be streamed on Roku, Hulu, and Prime Video.
The series premiered on Toonami in the United States on August 8, 2015.
The first opening theme song is Skyreach performed by Sora Amamiya, while the first ending theme is Konna Sekai, Shiritakunakatta (ćććŖäøēćē„ććććŖćć£ćć, I Wish Iād Never Known A World Like This) by Miku Sawai. The second opening theme song is Liar Mask performed by Rika Mayama while the second ending theme is Tsuki Akari, which is also performed by Sora Amamiya.
Each episode is accompanied by an original net animation segment, Akame ga Kill! Theater.
